TheUN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has concluded with a highdegree of confidence that the Earth’s climate is warming, largely as aresult of human activity.
Essentiallyevery scientific body in America and around the world, like theNational Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Sciences, theFrench Academy of Sciences, the (British) Royal Society, the ScienceCouncil of Japan, and, I suspect, any other scientific society you mightname, has reached the same conclusion, that human activity is theprimary driver of global warming and that it will have catastrophiceffects on human society, with many of those effects already becomingapparent.
Incontrast to the scientific consensus, some dedicated individuals andgroups continue to assert that Anthropogenic (human-caused) GlobalWarming (AGW) is not actually happening (it’s a hoax), or that it is nothuman caused, or that it will not have the predicted negative effects,or that it is actually a good thing (carbon dioxide is plant food), orthat it is either too late or too expensive to do anything about it.
Whatdo you think? Is AGW real? Do we need to worry? I’ll once again providesome links below. And once again, these links are completely one-sided.I’m probably less justified in being this one-sided about AGW, because Isuspect there is more of a balance in Google hits on this topic, so youmight actually get balanced information with a simple search. At leastthere is more balance in my Google search.
Still, the “anti-AGW” arguments are so easy to make and so prevalent that Idecided to once again only present one side of the story. Remember thatmy presenting only one side does not mean that I believe there IS onlyone side. Just that I think the side I’m not presenting is “easier.”
